2014 NFL Draft First Round Grades: Detroit Lions

10th Overall Pick: Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina

Most people expected the Lions to wide receiver or cornerback with the 10th overall selection, but Ebron was always a sneaky third option. Ebron is more along the Jimmy Graham mold of a tight end, which means he will probably play plenty of snaps at wide receiver as well. I like this pick a lot for the Lions, as it provides a great security blanket for Stafford when Johnson is doubled on the outside. It's a bit early for a tight end, but I wouldn't really consider this too much of a reach.

  1. Please, they got it wrong again! This is just a nightmare. Do they do this on purpose? Why did they resign Pettigrew? We already have a guy who can drop passes. We needed a cb or safety first then olb then OT not TE ! I cannot believe this! I broke my brand new flat screen throwing shit at it when this pick came in.

  2. I have said I will retire when the Lions beat the Steelers in the superbowl,Guess I will be working until 90 or so. A tight end who drops passes and can"t block -- what a stunning choice. Maybe our new Lion can get some good advice from duds like Charles Williams and Lynn Bodene. Are you smiling Russ Thomas and Matt Millen.?
