2014 NFL Draft First Round Grades: San Diego Chargers

25th Overall Pick: Jason Verrett, CB, TCU

This was a very predictable selection. The Chargers must have been thrilled that Dennard fell to Cinci which guaranteed one of the first round CB prospects would still be available for them. Verrett is a very talented corner who didn't go higher because of his size. Had he been a few inches taller, you could have made the case for him being the best corner in this class. However, size is becoming more and more important for cornerbacks in the NFL, which is why some teams had Verrett as a second round prospect. Because of this, some people won't see this selection as great value, but I think this is the range where Verrett belonged. This is a very solid pick filling a position of need for San Diego.

  1. Skills and speed like Verrett has are hard ignore. He most likely is the top talent as this years cb.San Diego will take that over two inches.
