2014 NFL Team Needs: Detroit Lions

1. Wide Receiver: Pretty much every mock draft has the Lions going with a wideout in round one. I would be very surprised if they did otherwise in May. Detroit desperately needs a #2 target across from Calvin Johnson.

2. Center: Raiola is a free agent who will likely retire this off season. Detroit will need to find a replacement in free agency or via a day two selection in the draft.

3. Cornerback: No player preformed exceptionally poorly at cornerback this year for the Lions, but the group as a whole was pretty bad. They need at least one upgrade here if not more.

4. Defensive End: Detroit needs a starter across from Ziggy Ansah. I don't have much faith in rookie Devin Taylor, who was over drafted last year in my opinion.

5. Outside Linebacker: Tulloch and Levy are top linebackers in the NFL, but Palmer shouldn't be starting. He should be upgraded this off season.

6. Tight End: Pettigrew is a free agent who probably won't be brought back. He never lived up to expectations as a first round selection. Fauria would be the starter, and he got a lot of attention for all his touchdown catches this season. However, there might be a reason he never saw the field until the goal line. Detroit may want to keep him in that #2 role for at least next season.

7. Kicker: Akers is a free agent, and isn't expected to be retained.

8. Quarterback: Shaun Hill is a free agent who will have to be replaced if he isn't retained. I doubt Kellen Moore will be trusted with backup duties.

  1. Raiola signed a one year deal and is no longer a free agent.
